  Financial services - don’t let the vendor drive your agenda!

Financial Services organisations were often among the earliest adopters of ERP solutions for HR. Consequently, the need to replace dated versions of ERP technologies often has a disproportionate impact in the industry and the withdrawal of support for key applications, such as payroll, can be a major headache.

This can lead to an increasingly frantic scramble to replace or update systems before the support deadline is reached. However, the “burning platform” created by an upgrade crisis can be viewed as an opportunity to address long-standing issues and the upgrade deadline can provide an opportunity to make significant improvements to the four key areas that will improve the management of strategic HR data.

‘Getting the best from the rest’ was the theme for the day when Jane Saunders spoke at a recent Shared Services for the Public Sector Conference held in central London. Jane talked to delegates from both local and central government about the challenges of getting the most from the retained functions when shared services is adopted as the method of delivering core HR Services. She highlighted some common pitfalls.
